Install Octane for H16

Hey guys,

I just bought Octane yesterday and I am super happy with it so far, the standalone is absolutely great and I look forward to using the Houdini plug-in.

My question is where I download a version functional for the H16 versions, all I can find is H15.5 and downwards.
And when I try to call that in H16 all i get is a QT error.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

All the latest plugin builds are available in the "Releases" subforum. The latest one available is the 3.06.0.5, that includes plugin versions for H16. The pluign build 16.0.557 is also compatible with the latest H16.0.600 production build.

Thanks for a swift reply!
I downloaded the version supplied by you and did not get the QT error anymore.
The issue now is that I am using a daily build rather than a production build of Houdini (16.0.617) - are there any Octane versions that are not version specific or would work with a more recent build?

As far I know the current .557 plugin build should work with Houdini 16.0.600 and all the latest daily builds. I'm not aware of plugin binary incompatibilities after the .557 release.

Anyway, to be safe the next plugin build will add a proper version for the .600 production build.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the warning that I'm getting.
Did I do something wrong during installation or is it simply a bug?

You can't use the 16.0.504.20 plugin build with this version of Houdini because they are binary incompatible. You need to use the .557 plugin build. Please, modify your houdini.env variables to point to the 16.0.557 plugin build.

That solved that issue - huge thanks!
Another popped up though and only displays when I have the necessary paths to Octane in the env. file and not otherwise.

This error is usually related to a type mismatch in the houdini.env file variables, for example additional spaces in the paths, wrong quote characters, etc.

Can you please attach your houdini.env file to test it here?

You file had several issues, like all the ;$PATH and ;& strings at the end of the variables. Please, check this one to see if it works now.
