Hi,
when I import an object in a scene with the same material (the same name), rhino (or octane) doesn't ask me if i want to overwrite or duplicate materials with the same name. So I have two identical material...If there a way to avoid it?
thanx

Yes, I have this problem to... the best thing would indeed be a popup which would prompt you with 3 options to chose from:
1. overwrite the existing material with the new one
2. keep the existing material
3. rename the new material
Vary for rhino had such an option ... back in the days
That would be a nice addition...
Best

Hi Andreas,
yes a popup with these 3 options would be great.

I have previously raised this issue with the McNeel devs, and did not get a complete answer that was enough to resolve this issue. I suspect this is potentially not possible to implement in Rhino5 with the RhinoCommon API, but may be doable with Rhino 6.
