hi, i'm trying to have the displacement in a texture being driven by a falloff so that i can move it around and only have the surface be displaced wherever the falloff is positioned. i guess the shader effector is the key but i just can't seem to figure out how to make it work?
any suggestions would be much appreciated.
thanks, chris
Animate displacement with falloff ?

not sure if this can be done at all tbh - the only way to use anything other than image textures in the displacement channel in octane materials is to run everything through a c4d layer shader. my advice;
use a regular c4d falloff to mask between the displacement texture and a 50% grey (0 displacement) c4d colour texture within a c4d layer shader and run that through your displacement - you may also need to have UV's for this to work.

thanks for your reply.
the effect of this plugin is what i need to drive the displacement https://www.curiousanimal.tv/shop/fallo ... er-shader/
but unfortunately it doesn't work in octane.
i've got a huge ground area and only want it to displace close to the camera.

Hi Chris_Luehning,
octane displacement cannot work with other shaders, and please avoid the c4d layer shader.
A workaround could be to restrict the displacement with a polygon selection, and add the gradient in PS.
