Hi there,
don´t get me wrong i like the idea of a node-based editor but 8 out of 10 times i´m willing to use it i´ll get a crash.... (i´m on the latest version c4D and octane / nevertheless this happend also with older versions too)
today again - and what rly bothers me i did not even do anything fancy !!
just plugged a random color node into the diffuse channel - BOOM crash! and as i said this happend frequently...
so i wonder is this behavior normal or dooes only i´ve got this problem?! =/

Great title! I never get any crashes. Could you please capture a video while some windows are open and visible? And what's latest? 3.06 or 3.05.3?
Script->Console and LV->Help->Octane Log Window and please record your crash session. And please attach "bugreport.zip" + current scene.

I don't hear much issues with node editor. Please post what you have and what's your settings for node editor. That's not good for me to have defence everytimes the issues on just a few peoples. We can fix if there's a particular problem on you.nbeyond wrote:No offense - sry ^^

I used to have problems with the node editor crashing while connecting nodes, or especially when selecting a large number of nodes and then deleting them.
Checking on "Auto Load Materials" from the Node Editor "Edit" Menu solved about 99% of crashes I had with it.
Every once in a while I will get a crash, but it's really infrequent and doesn't impede my workflow. Just make sure you have autosave turned on.

"Auto Load Materials" is ON by default and designed/tested mostly in case. Don't know why keeping it OFF.dh921911 wrote:I used to have problems with the node editor crashing while connecting nodes, or especially when selecting a large number of nodes and then deleting them.

Hmm interesting. Maybe I accidentally ticked it off early on. I just remember having node issues and clicking that on solved most of them!aoktar wrote: "Auto Load Materials" is ON by default and designed/tested mostly in case. Don't know why keeping it OFF.
Ye the crashes are often here too. And not only crashes, it bugs out a lot (usually a sign before crashing that u dont see things behave proper).
Idk why aoktar has no crashes, even in GSG the guy that compared octane/arnold etc for c4d, on the disadvantages for octane talks about the non reliable node editor.

Oh and another bug that happens in 3 different pcs: if u dock the node editor in c4d interface, c4d never closes. U have to go to task manager everytime to shut it down.
