Hi Guys,
the z-depth topic seems to be part uf several discussions...but I still havent found a answer to my issue!

So, imagine you have just one object in the foreground and you wanne adjust the greyscale values in the z-depth pass. I do have different greyscale values, so it seems to work somehow..:)
But I want to achieve a simple plain black to plain white gradient on my object but even by playing around with the zdepth max value just gives me a "grey to greyish" gradient. Of course I could crunch the zdepth pass in post, but I feel like I give away a lot of the zdepth resolution by doing this.

So, how can I adjust the start- and endpoint of the zdepth gradient?

I'd appreciate every hint..:)
Cheers, Remo

Hi Remo,
Zdepth in Octane works in meter, so you can use precise value. Please look at this other discussion:

Thanks a lot for the quick answer beppe..:)

I do have a smooth gradient on my object....pretty similar to the one on the image/discussion you linked.
But what I want to achieve is a gradient with more contrast!
So, if the zdepth on the cube starts in plain black (on the front corner) and ends in plain white (on the back corner). It feels that the "black spot" in the zdepth pass is way behind the camera...

I hope this makes sense..:)

Id apprechiate every suggestion!

Cheers, Remo
