I am simply trying to import a primitive sphere (generated through C4D r17) with a subdivision surface applied to it into Octane so I can begin wrapping my ahead around this node-based material system.
I have tried the following, with no success:
Right click in nodegraph editior --> geometry --> mesh --> selecting .obj file --> open
A node appears, when I click on it, the Node Inspector window shows (what I'm assuming is) the material for the .obj
However, this dinky, primitive sphere does not appear in the render viewport.
Another user mentioned that if you click some button called 'reset camera view to default' that this can make the .obj file appear, however, I have been unable to locate said button.
Someone else had an issue and it seemed to be resolved through --> preferences --> import --> obj, so I tried poking around in there to see if I could adjust a setting, but nothing within the menu seemed to suggest that I could make my .obj appear.
I know this is the most basic of basic functions within Octane standalone, but again, for the life of me I have not been able to import this gosh dang sphere.
I've followed a youtube tutorial, the whole right click, geometry, mesh, and it's just not working for me.
Has anyone else encountered this problem before? How do I solve this/what basic ass thing am I missing here??
This is what my window looks like after I try to import an .obj file via the geometry --> mesh function:
