Hey all,
I just got Octane a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it. I have my first job that I need to send out to a farm for rendering, and since they don't support the modo plugin, I wanted to export a packaged scene for standalone.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I cannot export an .orbx with animation from modo.
I've tried exporting as .orc with alembic, then just as .orbx, using the command line, etc.
When I open up the scene in standalone there is no timeline.
I asked a friend who is a longtime octane and modo plugin user and he reports the same when exporting with current plugin and standalone versions.
He opened up an old scene and it worked, so I'm not sure if its the 3.05 with the 3.03 plugin that creates this issue.
Any thoughts? Is this a bug?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul - what version of the plugin are you using pls? Which OS? Are you using the octane.saveAnimation command?I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I cannot export an .orbx with animation from modo.

Hi Paul,
I'm using the latest stable version, Standalone 3.05.03 and Modo plugin 3.03.3 on Windows 10 on Modo 10.2v2
I used all the available options: direct export from the viewport button as .orbx, then as .ocs and then finally using the octane.saveAnimation command, which exported the alembic meshes to a folder and the .ocs file.
We had the same result on another machine with Windows 8 and same versions, but when opening an older project my friend had, it worked. I don't know which version it was made with, but it worked.
If you need more info, just let me know.
Thanks,
Paul B.

Thanks - that is not the current STABLE build. If you install the latest pre-release TEST version of the plugin from viewtopic.php?f=34&t=55078&p=308769#p308769 it contains a number of export animation fixes. If you are wanting to save an animation for rendering in Standalone - make sure you use the command octane.saveAnimation.On the installer? 3_3_3_112_64bit

Hi Paul,
So I have updated to the latest version, with no luck.
I've exported as orbx and ocs and there is still no timeline available to review or process the animation sequence.
Could I be missing something to activate the animation?
Regards,
Paul B.

Hi - you need either an animated camera, or animated geometry (ie. something moving) in the scene in order to get a timeline in Octane Standalone. If this is the case, and you are still not getting a timeline, can you pls send me the scene? So I have updated to the latest version, with no luck.
