Really looking forward to this technology, would love to have a forum for Brigade updates, thoughts, and expectations that either the Otoy team or the rendering community have. Anyone with anything Brigade please post it here, would love to see it/hear about it. Thanks!

It is planned to be merged into Octane V4, and all Octane users will be able to get it this way. We plan to get on V4 once 3.1 is stable (lots of work extending 3.x through modules and other layers will continue even after we've shipped 3.1).
Appreciate so much for the update. In the videos it looks like it is ready already!Goldorak wrote:It is planned to be merged into Octane V4, and all Octane users will be able to get it this way. Is there even more amazement being added in (i.e. new features) or is it getting the fine tunings worked on.
Ps- did you get to try it (have no idea who is working on it

Thanks!

If you look at the home page gallery of Brigade images it does appear to look like Octane Render's qualitycoilbook wrote:Is brigade going to be a realtime renderer like unreal engine with worse quality than octane or it will have octane quality but faster than octane. Thank you.

I wonder how hot the GPU's will get, will it be faster with multiple GPU's, or might it be the complete opposite, in that it will 'render' multi-GPU rigs redundant.....

Hi everyone,
The plan is to merge Brigade in Octane in V4. This will be our focus after Octane 3.1 and the resulting module/OSL ecosystem is fully stable. You can find some additional info on this roadmap here (~ 3min mark in the video discusses V4 R&D work):

A SINGLE 120 Watt GPU...?
I have to start looking at Unity now!
This looks amazing, and I love the scenes...the mindset behind it all is daring...Thanks!

Here is another group de questions:
1) RESOLUTION - Will Brigade work at any resolution the same, or will it slow down/tax system the higher the resolution goes. And what gets taxed, CPU, DRAM, GPU?
2) FEATURES - will Brigade have all the features of V3? (ie -Volumes, upcoming Toon-Shader from 3.1)
3) ALEMBIC - What will a frame rendered scene look like in Brigade with alembic? Will it be like, boom frame 1, boom frame 2, boom frame 3 (1s/per frame, or less!!!), or will it be restricted to compiling of the scene by the underlying Octane engine with the system CPU, like it is now?
4) MULTI-RENDERER - Okay, going crazy now, but in thinking of Alembic, and if 1 GPU would be all Brigade needs per a normal scene, would Brigade potentially be able to render 2 different scenes with 2 GPUs (1 scene per GPU?)
5) GPU REQUIREMENT - Will Brigade be able to be used by the current GPUs that can run Octane, or will it be limited somehow (ie - only Pascal cards). And not that I have any particular interest in this, but is it CUDA driven (ie will AMD finally get in on the Octaning)
6) IMPATIENCE - Goldorak, can I have Brigade now?!!!

I read that "HBAO+" is an AAA game quality Ambient Occlusion technology by NVIDIA, used to approximate the effect of environment lighting.
I also read about VXGI (Voxel Cone Tracing technology) which is a global illumination algorithm by NVIDIA, and then PBR (Physically Based Rendering) which is in part a material type set up to work with VXGI.
Is Brigade going to rely on a whole paradigm of components that "work with it", or will it be able to itself handle any material, mesh, lighting, and camera combo thrown at it?
In other words, will old scenes go "BOOM....ready", or do we have to re-orchestrate a scene to re-imagine it in Brigade.
So many questions...so little time...how can I lose?
So many questions...so little time...how can I choose?
