Hello guys,
I'm planning on making a wiki for octane render. I'm going to make a draft for it first which should take a week or so because I want to Make it as professional and as "this wasn't made by a 16 year old who dosen't know what he is talking about" as possible and due to the fact that I'm on my iPad and the auto correct is unreliable as you can see the 20 or so mistakes in this post lol. But before I do it would be nice to get a base for it.Such as the history of it and the beginning of it which only radiance and a few others can write.
Any thoughts?
Radiant

hey radiant...radiant wrote:m planning on making a wiki for octane render.
its really a great idea...
"one must be on wikipedia- in order to be famous" ..hehe...

everytime you do a net search- one thing that pops on the top of list is the wikipedia link...
its a great idea, and would help octane very much..
but... it should be well written, and well referenced..and done in most credible way... i would be really happy to see octane on wiki and always thought that octane should have a wikipedia page.. looking foward to your draft.. i am sure most of the community members can also contribute well for this...
cheers

ok guys, iv been busy lately but I'm now going to spend this entire day on it.
This is going to be the top paragraph, now i really want to put as much quality in it not quantity.
Meaning i want it to be as short as possible but with the most impact [Im saving the best for the over view].All the writing in blue will be re directed links
Octane render is a real-time 3D rendering software that utilizes the unbiased rendering technologies to produce photo-realistic images.
It is currently being developed by Refractive Software, with Terrence Vergauwen as head of development.
Now since Radiance has stepped down from development, i think i should replace his name with abstraxs but i still think radiance name should still be in the first paragraph since he originally designed it.
May be this?
Octane Render is a real-time 3D rendering software that utilizes the unbiased rendering technologies to produce photorealistic images.
It is the first unbiased renderer to be fully dependent on the GPU.
It is currently being developed by Refractive Software, with Marcus “last name” as head of development.
CC is welcome as well as re writes.

Ok guys the page is up online, it may not seem like much but i started from a blank page and it took me a while to know the wiki design code.
There still needs to be:
Overview
History
Pictures << lots of them
Grammar?
Remove incorrect information
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_render
Im going to a dinner tonight, it would be very nice to see some pictures on the wiki when i come back

To avoid this problems dont name anyone, just RS. And you should drop "currently". -> Octane render is ..lalala.. developed by RS.
EDIT:
Sunflow and Yafaray are not unbiased renderers.

Yes, hi radiant, nice project.
I think the IES system is a separate light system, as:
Lights
HDRI
Mesh Emitters
Sun/Sky system
IES Lights
or:
Lights
HDRI
Mesh Emitters with IES Lights
Sun/Sky system
Do you plan to expand single points like HDRI, or only link to other wiki articles?
Cheers mib

Radiant, don't you think you should mention that Octane is in beta / RC stage?
As it's written now, some outsider would think that we are already at final version 2.45...
And beta 2.45 is considered RC, so it should be the one mentioned as stable release
EDIT:
Although, the current 2.45 is hardly a release candidate, because RS has yet to add major stuff like bidirectional PT, instances, nodesystem rewrite, support for multigpu... Octane is technically still at some late alpha stage, but don't mention that in the wiki
