Hi,
I use rhino plugin and I like it very much to work inside Rhino. But I don't like the "vertical structure" of Octane settings. Every time I have to reduce "Camera", "Environment", "Film settings"... and so on.
Is it possible to have those elements (camera, environment, film settings, animation, kernel, render layers, render passes, imager, post processing) horizontally, as small buttons?

thanx

I think it would be possible even to create whole new ui panel for octane plugin in rhino, but there is only one problem - not every pin and it's value is accessible via command line (which is needed for rhino script the ui) like for example the kernel type

Regards,
Mac

This would not be a simple to implement as you might think - since some of the rendertarget pins are optional (ie. the Visible Environment), and others allow different types of nodes (for example, there are 4 different type of kernel nodes - so changing the kernel type has to be done at the rendertarget pin level rather than the kernel pins).

An option that might work would be to have the camera, kernel, environment, etc buttons above the rendertarget tree, and clicking one of these buttons closes all pins of the rendertarget except the pin for that button. So for example, if you click the Camera button, only the Octane camera pins would be expanded, and all other pins collapsed.

Sounds good. Would this state keept if a rendering is started?

Pls see viewtopic.php?f=41&t=55093&p=306504#p306504 for a test build with this functionality.

It is mandatory that the tree be rebuilt when the render starts (because all the Octane nodes are re-created), so what you are asking for would not be easy to achieve.

Couldn't the current state not be saved during a rendering is started and after rebuild restored? Could be a gig step forward for the workflow.

Yes, it could - but it would be a lot of coding for what is essentially a cosmetic feature, and I have a lot of higher priority issues to address. I was happy to push through the camera, kernel, etc buttons above the Setup tree because it was 10 mins work to implement.

Hi Paul and thanx for super fast upgrading.

I have an Octane VR subscription...and this release does'nt start.

A window appear: "Your license was deactivated and could not find another one available. You may release a new license and retry or sign in as a different user to continue" etc. etc..
