Thank you for the fast answer
I have tried with alpha enabled and all i see is the alpha, seem like the live viewer is not seeing the c4d background.
Ive also messed around with the keep environment setting which doesnt change the problem

many thanks for the scene file. what i understood was that you were in directlighting while i was using pathtracing. is there a way to do this with pathtracing aswell? so i switch to directlighting still no result, i am using a video file in my material as a animated background, this will not show in the octane preview. i tried with gradiants and still images and those worked finr. i guess my final question is : is it possible to make this work with animated elements such as a video in my background? ive linked a screenshot of my project below to better illustrate my question.
Video files are not supported. Why don't you try another texture types?
