is it possible to have a baking capabilities?, I know it somewhat despice the realtime features, but I was thinking that it could be useful for a walktrough interrior type render...

biased renderer use irradiance caching with a gradient between the pixels..
would it not be possible to use in an unbiased render some kind of pixel gradient (interpolation)
between the pixels?
i mean instead to waiting for a noiseless image.. you could wait for a "error-free" image?
maybe it is possible to render internal the same like befor, but in the framebuffer you
interpolate the pixels if you press a button??...

Maybe in the future, if i start working on implementing something like this now,
all other users will have no bump mapping etc for months...
I need to focus on completing the engine as it is first, maybe in the near future.
The fact that fryrender has been promising this for years without any working application also states that it is not something that's straightforward to implement.
Regarding biased / interpolation techniques, if user demand is high enough maybe in v2.0,
but i need to focus on finishing what we have now first

Shaderlight uses voronoi cells instead of pixels in the early stages of the rendering and FPrime and Holomatix Rendition also has some similar scheme. Compared to the dark dotted noise that you get from unbiased renderers and pixel mess from other progressive types (eg. modo), I think the interpolated ones give much clearer picture of the final image in the first few seconds, which is very important for interactivity.
I don't think that should be a priority though. Gpu baking would be neat too, but not very critical in my opinion.

i suppose it's possible, although i'm not sure the actual pre-computation stage is efficient on the GPU.
I really need to do more research in that area, due to my luxrender roots, i haven't explored biased algos much in the past...

Cool, thanks. I've seen some research in that area recently (photon mapping an irradiance caching on GPUs), so I suppose it's feasible.

It very important for Octane to render like it is now, it have DREAMY feel when navigating, I do not what this to look like first version of VRay Realtime where you move then the screen updates but jumping to the most recent camera position, This take away from Dreamy experience! Octane way of rendering is fine FOREVER!

Another vote for baking! I use this often in Mudbox but had to do it manually(took hours). I use a HDRI image to light the model, bake the lighting into the diffuse texture - the results are awesome. If i could do this in Octane with a click of a button it will save me TONS of time.
