Hi
I am trying to have the Octane plugin better handle converting IRay Uber materials to Octane Materials. To do this, I need a copy of any IRay material which are not converting well for you at the moment. To send me a copy of the material, pls do the following steps:
1) Open the scene with the problematic IRay material
2) Select the object and Surface of the IRay material which is not converting correctly
3) Rightclick the surface "Copy Selected Surface(s)"
4) Create->New Primitive->Sphere
5) Select the new Sphere in the Scene tab
6) Click the Default material for the Sphere in the Surfaces tab
7) Apply the Shader Presets->Iray->DAZ Uber->!IRay Uber Base shader
8) Rightclick the surface "Paste to Selected Surface(s)"
The IRay material should now be pasted to the new sphere.
9) File->Save As->Scene Subset. Just save the sphere you created in step 4.
Post the saved scene to this thread pls, and I will investigate how the material can be better converted to an Octane material.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
I tried to create and attach some IRAY material samples . Each .zip file includes a preview render Image from DAZ and Octane (with default settings). Hopefully the files are OK for you. I can conform that some materials are looking very glossy (see files chocolate and texture). Also if I change the Octane Render Settings to Gama 2.2, GI Clamp 10, Response Linear etc. the material looks (very) different compared with the results from the DAZ IRAY renderer. Hopefully you will find a solution to improve the material conversion..
Regards,
DAZ Studio Version: 4.9.3.166
Octane Stand-Alone: 3.05.3
DazStudio Plug-In: 3.5.3.30

There seems to be an issue with the conversion of the index of refraction setting. When loading auto materials, most items (but not all (Iray materials?)) import in with mirror like reflectivity because the Index of refraction loads in at a random value less than 1. (usually around .15 or so (decimal issue?)) Manually tweaking this value at all resets it to 1 and then it functions normally, but you have to hit every affected material in the scene.
(I am using 3.5.3.30)

Can you provide a .duf where this happens pls? There seems to be an issue with the conversion of the index of refraction setting. Made a simple scene with the free Dark Storm outfit, which the glitch affects. All I have done to this scene in Octane is load auto materials.

I think I have been able to resolve both the above issues, but it needs a lot of testing, which I will do over the next day or two, after which I will post a test version to this thread.

Below is a pre-release of the next version of the plugin, which will hopefully address the two issues raised so far in this thread.
3.5.3.31 (pre-release)
- Added error message if you try to import an OCS/ORBX which contains more than one material
- Fixed a number of IRay material conversion issues
