Hi all,

We are releasing this new update which fixes a few issues since the previous release.

Changes since version 3.05.1:
  • Default ground start angle is set to 90 to match old behavior.
  • Default particle size can now be set in the geometry import preferences using the field Default sphere radius
  • Fixed the motion vector pass: which may produce in non-continuous motion vectors when modifying the shutter interval or subframe interval. Also, if distributed ray tracing was disabled, the rendered time of the pass was always 0.

Could we have cast illumination check for emissive volumes also ? They slow the renderer if they emit light. For example I would like to have a simulation of a torch but I would like to have a separate simple box which would emit light instead of that torch. When I have it this way it looks good and renders fast, now I have to crank up the importance of this fake light to get a fast noiseless solution. Killing the volume emission influence totally would also help.

why does not static noise move with the model when static noise is ON or stay on objects when camera moves.

In this example you can see a layer of noise that travels with camera. That noise is poorly rendered concrete blocks. But if that noise stayed with concrete block you could think it is uneven concrete but unfortunately it travels with the camera making a viewer think there is a noisy film that travels with camera . Any way to make noise stay on objects.

Like dust in camera...
I'had this myself. Ended up disabling static noise and adding a sublte one in afterFX. But your resolution seams off.
BTW is this a scaled up version of video? or is it native 1920x1080 in pixels?
if you scale up your render sequence. avoid static noise. Scale if you need to but add noise in afterFX like app.

From the docs:
Static Noise (coherent_ratio)
When this attribute is enabled, the noise is static, i.e. doesn’t change between frames. This is disabled by default. Note that the noise is fully static as long as only the same GPU architecture is being used for rendering. Different architectures will produce slightly different numerical errors which manifest as small differences in noise pattern every time rendering restarts on the frame.
I guess what you are after is some post-production noise as oguzbir proposed, but that's not currently supported or else just disable static noise if that would work for you.

Adding a background image to the render view results in distorted image:

This may be a problem with this particular image, since I couldn't reproduce it various images myself. Could you send me the image file and also let me know on which OS you are working? Thanks.

I'm on OS X. and this happens with any image like this one:

Once on Octane 2.x there was a swich to change the viewport to software and this helped the issue:

but it is not available anymore.
