Been working on a project for a couple weeks, style frames were done early on in the same scene with the same lighting setup. As the scene got heavier, it seemed to be taking an unnecessarily long time to send the scene to Octane, even when turning off large sections. So we updated, Cinema, and the Standalone/plugin to the latest versions, updated our graphic drivers and now the lighting in the scene has changed pretty drastically. The scene was being lit by a combination of Octane Daylight and some fill from an HDRI which was also providing reflections. Now the thumbnail for the HDRI looks like it has gamma problems, and any fill light that was being provided is gone. Has anything changed with either the way Daylight or HDRI Environments work in the last couple releases?

This is using path tracing, not DL. Shouldn't be affected by gimode. No changes to the project file were made, just updated octane plugin, standalone, cinema4d r17 and nvidia drivers.

So there's no change since adding the support of "Visible environment" options and allowing two sky+DL objects together.
