Hi! This is the latest production build of the OctaneRender™ 3.0 for LightWave™ plugin, available for Lightwave 10.1, 11.6 and 2015.3 Windows x64 and OSX.
*** NEW PLUGIN DEPLOY FOLDERS STRUCTURE ***
From this build, the user no longer needs to copy the "Octane.dll", "Octane.dat" and "tbb.dll" files to the LightWave/bin folder. Now all the Octane core files are deployed in the same folder used by the plugin .p file, and the user doesn't need to copy or move them to any other place. All the users updating the plugin from a previous version, should remove the old "Octane.dll" and "Octane.dat" files from the LightWave/bin folder to avoid problems. DON'T REMOVE THE "tbb.dll" FILE FROM THE LIGHTWAVE/BIN FOLDER, BECAUSE IT IS USED ALSO BY LIGHTWAVE.

=============================================
RELEASE 3.05.0.0
=============================================
* NEW PLUGIN FEATURES:
- The LightWave camera pixel aspect parameter is now used to compute the Octane thin lens camera pixel aspect.
- Materials conversion tool available for the LightWave 11.6 plugin version.
- Several updates in the materials conversion tool:
+ Bypass the materials that already have an Octane material node linked to the root node "Material" input.
+ In auto mode, the Octane specular material is now added only if the LW surface has transparency (or textured transparency) and an IOR > 1.0
+ In auto mode, the Octane glossy material is used now if the LW surface has specularity (or textured specularity).
+ Some of the not textured LW surface parameters values are now set in the Octane nodes parameters.
* PLUGIN BUGS FIXED:
- Fixed a critical issue related to the rotation motion blur in objects with a not centered pivot point.
* NEW OCTANE FEATURES:
- Overhauled the rounded edges compilation and rendering.
- Replaced option "distributed ray-tracing" in the render passes node with the enum "distributed tracing mode" which provides a new option "non-distributed, no pixel filtering" that disables pixel filtering/anti-aliasing in all info passes, except AO, wireframe and render layer mask.
- Reduced the GPU memory usage of deep pixel rendering for larger images.
* OCTANE BUGS FIXED:
- Fixed crash in loop subdivision mode.
- Fixed device failure when a small film region is rendered with deep pixels.
- Fixed integer overflow during HDR tone mapping when huge images are rendered resulting in the bottom of the image being black.
- Fixed incorrect loading of some OpenVDB files with constant voxel groups, which don't have the background value.
- Fixed crash when a LiveDB material is unpacked locally.
Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hi Juan,
Just to let you know, I've tried this version, and unlike the 3.04.x range which would crash Octane immediately as it tried to launch, this version works on my workstation just fine within LW! I just need to try the network nodes next and see if those all work smoothly too.
Thanks,
Dom

Juanjo, LW freezes when trying to abort a 6200x3200 F9 render... this is a pretty unremarkable outdoor scene, with some instanced grass, displaced mulch, flowers etc.. Have any ideas pal? (I am just using my two 980Ti Hybrids and leaving 780Ti off for this render, which will take many hours - so it has nothing to do with my 780Ti) It does not freeze when aborting a 50% half-res render.
And dang, it would be so flippin' wonderful if there was a Task Manager process (other than Layout.exe) that could be ended in cases like these...

So is the Layout freezing after abort the rendering? Weird. Can you please enable the log file and send it to me if you get another freeze?FrankPooleFloating wrote:Juanjo, LW freezes when trying to abort a 6200x3200 F9 render... this is a pretty unremarkable outdoor scene, with some instanced grass, displaced mulch, flowers etc.. The cancel in complex scenes can take some time, but after one minute (to say something) it should be canceled for sure.
Thanks,

ABORT, JUANJO! ABORT!.. It must have had something to do with a BG image that I had in LW Compositing, that I actually wasn't using, or one of the couple objects I just deleted from scene. Now it aborts correctly. Thanks anyways, for being there, J!
