Hello guys!!

Have a look at this:
issue.jpg
I'm trying to scatter some plants on a big place and control their sizes/ distribution etc with noise, but no matter what i do, it ends up with these lines patterns, i tried to scale it and change noise types, also changing from object projection to world. , nothing really works, any ideas on how to solve this?

I'm using 3.03.4 R2 on cinema r 17

Thank you for your attention.

Cheers.

hi,
unfortunately, the scatter node is not visible in your screenshot, here is an example scene with a similar noise in the scale settings:

as you can see, the distribution is based on the uv settings of the landscape object. I have scattered only one object and randomized the material ;)

Probably your UV's are not right on your scatter surface. Get rid of the UV tag and create a new one.
A quick way for a simple surface is to create a texture tag with cubic or flat mapping then Generate UVW Coordinates. Should be ok after that.

Pls post Console window output here. Also write exact version numbers for C4D and OS.
Your C4D+plugin looks like working wrong. You're first on this.

I FOUND IT!!!!!

I guess i was just being dumb.

Turns out, after copying the plugin content to cinema4D's plugin folder, i forgot to delet the initialization files for the other versions(r15,16,18).

Tha't was a while ago, and i was being lazy and just dimissing my error messages when c4D starts. Thisssss was messing octane scatter, somehow, i just went there and deleted the wrong initialization files and just left r17.

Now it works!!!

Thanks for all your support guys, let's just leave this here so if anyone is just as dump as me this thread might help them find out sooner.

Reading install info would take 1 min. But you spent one day with this now.
Anyway there is some change in C4D SDK probably after R15(can't remember well now). Some notation has beend changed after this version and old syntax causes wrong matrix operation.
So you have lot of plugin and C4D used one of old versions. And corrupts the uv-mapping calculations. Funny that you didn't checked that for rendering and just saying that's bug on scatter.
Please double check for other possibilities before saying that's BUG.
