where is Octane 3 ?

Hi,

I installed poser NOT in the traditional directory -- as someone advised better not to { to avoid a host
of issues }

However, I installed octane 3 to this new directory. And I don't see it in Poser.


1. What is the install path{s} for octane 3?

a. can I move the files to this new install path { if wrong } -- or have to reinstall over old one?

2. Does it show in the same render list as 2?


i see it in the new folders, but apparently not installed correctly

ok, I got flash and the library working in the new location - but no octane.

It didn't work, when you put the Octane Render plug-in *.exe into the folder with the new Poser installation and run the plug-in *.exe from there?
That's what i always did and have it working.

or move them? { there is no c: programs > smithmicro , because I didn't install there. }

2 I dont see an octane.exe anywhere. Is that the name of it?

3 I have files in c: poser> runtime> python > addons > octanerender for poser.

and

c: poser> runtime> python > addons > octanerender for poser > 3-64.

such as dll. and octane.dat

1: personally, I have separated/dedicated hdd's for various things. The operating system (Windows in my case) in on one, the 3D stuff is on another and for all the other software I install(ed), I use yet another one.
So I do not have Poser installed on C:

Windows OctaneRender for Poser 3.4.3.79 (64 bit) is the lated (test) build.
When executing this downloaded *.exe file, the installation wizard will ask you where you want to install the plug-in to. So simply use the root folder of the Poser installation, where you want to use the plug-in from.
I have a parallel installation of PP2014 and PP11. And in both "Poser installation folders" I installed the OR plug in.

3: my installations are then:
...\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2014\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser (folder with lots of files)
and
...\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 11\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser (folder with lots of files)

but problems have gotten worse.

I think Octane was installed in the wrong folder for some unknown reason. { Actually the only
path it suggest is smithmicro also - which I wish would also be taken out. }

anyhow - I uninstalled it and now getting a WORSE error. [ before even trying to reinstall.]

ERROR:

the Nividia GTX 880m card can not be removed or deleted { wording not exact }

....... HUH ?......

and THE ENTIRE COMPUTER HANGS now till a forced reboot!

actually I think the latest problems started after I reinstalled it.


there is an install in this current path:

C:\poser\Poser Pro 2014\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser
