Is proper x particles support ever going to happen? Cycles 4d is looming, and they're promising full particle support.

I've got a similar dilemma.

Octane 3.1 looks like it would be a better render engine for me than Cycles4D, but I have no idea if it's coming out this month, or year, or decade?

At the moment we're at limits of available features in Octane. Sometimes i'm adding extra features with hacked ways because of this limits. Mograph color support or stacking materials are some of them.
Btw extra particle support is different story. We need a special texture type to create custom colors for any individual geometry even for scatter(octane node) nodes. This will allow to use different color/opacity per particles.
Also OSL will be another great add-on. I cannot do this without implementations of both features. Both are on the table and we're waiting for them as you're.

It's not that I don't appreciate all the hard work because I do. But I must say that when octane 3 was announced, volumetrics was a feature advertised. I feel like the implementation so far is just kind of scattershot. Some stuff works, some doesn't. No smoke and fire out of x particles is driving me nuts, because I understand that turbulence FD is working, but I don't have an unlimited budget, and my company is my own, so anything I buy comes out of my own pocket. So having to buy something (turbulence fd) that overlaps something I already invested in (x particles) just because my render engine won't do it is a tough pill to swallow.

Big +1 on the Particle Support.

But as this is only possible with OSL, it's probably worth reposting this topic in the Standalone forum areas...Commercial Product..., General Discussion, Commerical Support, etc. Just getting an ETA on this to give us some hope would be great!

Also I posted aboug this in another guy's thread about osl. I hope otoy is listening because cycles 4d is literally two days away and they're promising full x particles support.
