Hello,

I am thinking about moving into a GPU renderer, however I will move to the one which has the better material conversion from Vray as I have some objects and scenes done. Probably, as me, there are MANY Vray users thinking about a change, and, with the time, we will become learning the new renderer.

Well, I tried the demo version of Octane some days ago and the result of conversion was absolutely disapointing; I don't know if it was due to it was a demo version, in that case, what kind of demo version is it? or maybe it is due to a very poor converter, so, in this case: came on guys! What are you waiting for? You can do it and you should* want to earn a lot of more money.

So, please, could you show me a demonstration of a succesfull conversion, if exists?

Thank you very much and best regards

Hi Pacificador,
The 4.21 version has a good vray converter, although you should consider the temporary inability to convert vray materials such as multitexturing, composite layers etc etc
The Octane 3DS MAx developers can not develop features are not present in the SDK Octane.
With Octane Version 3.1 we should be able to solve all these issue.
However, keep in mind V-Ray materials are based on value ranges of key attributes, while Octane materials are explicitly defined types.
Interpreting some of the more vague VRayMtls into it's correct Octane counterpart continues to be a thorn in the side of this converter.
It has been improved upon, but it is generally believed that the V-Ray issue will never be 100% resolved.
