Can somebody please point me in the right direction regarding saving and reapplying materials presets with the modo plugin.
I have seen that in the Cinema plugin I can save presets in the Local Live Database so that they can later be loaded in a different scene.
Is it possible to do this in the Modo version?
If that is not the case can I export them In the standalone version and save in the local database from there? because I tried that but I can't
succeed in saving anything in the LDB even from there.
What is the correct way to do this?

Thanks a lot.

Oh what I would just love is that I make a material and select the node, right click and "save material to LiveDB".
None of this command line BS.
Sorry to be a nag Paul, is it Modo that is fighting you or are you just too busy to make it so?

I get a bit worried about adding a button for every command, that it will clutter the UI and be confusing to users. You can add a button yourself - just tweak the Modo UI via the Form Editor. If a critical mass of users want a button added for this, I can do it - but someone needs to send me an icon for it :-) And I think you are referring to the octane.exportMaterial command - which saves to the LocalDb rather than LiveDb (assuming you save the ORBX in the right place).

I think to have a system (button) to save presets/materials with an icon is a good idea. This saves the user from the command line crap and puts more "creation time" in making magic.
It's a big bloody drag to have a system where you have to jump through hoops just to have two spheres in two different documents shaded with the same material.

I want a button Paul... Make it so!

No - you don't need to install the LiveDb to access the LocalDb. Also - you you really want a LiveDb material, you can just load it in Octane Standalone and copy/paste into the Modo plugin.

Pls see my conditions for adding such an icon above - specifically regarding supplying an icon image.

Leave the issues that the user cannot easily influence to Paul. As for this request, use the forms editor, make a pie menu with the Octane items you use the most and call it a Button. Contribute to your own cause, cause you can!

Found the "Save preset" and it works fine, would love if there was an checkbox like "Save textures with material" that made a folder for the material and saved the textures there too.
