Hello everybody,
although I guess this question is more towards Aoktar I wanted to know if there are any things to consider with the minimal exposure and gamma settings.
When using the attribute manager you can set exposure to a min of 0,001 and gamma to 0,1 regardless of using the handles or typing in the values.
But when working on the animation curves you can drag both values to 0, which I accidetally did and then experienced a hard crash of C4D.
Although I guess this crash was due to me having After effects open at the same time and working on the compositing in parallel this was the first time in months C4D crashed and also I was not able to reproduce this problem without having AE open.
Long story short and to play it safe for the future:
Should the minimal values for exposure (0.001) and gamma (0.1) never be smaller?
Cheers
Ralf
PS: I recently updated to r18 and Octane 3.03.4-R3
Exposure 0.001 vs 0 and Gamma 0.1 vs 0

Interesting. There's no limitation in codes for ranges. It comes from resource management system and not possible to clamp if it gives a value which is out of ranges. Also i use the ranges from standalone. I hope that's clear to you!

Initially I thought 0,001 was an intended min value by you or the Otoy devs, but basically you are saying setting exposure and gamma to 0 should not be a problem right?
Then I guess if the 0,001 was neither intended by you or other devs it might be minimal value set by C4D. Something similar to setting up user data for Xpresso maybe? There you can set min and max values for all input fields which you can also set to be different from the min and max values of sliders.

I think you totaly get wrong my explanation about technical background of process.
All controls has own limits which are setted by C4D resource files of plugin. And that's only control to avoid to exceed as i know. There's nothing more on my side else of this. You may surpass the controls when you're using xpresso. I don't know.
