Hi everyone,

I'm sure it has been discussed many times since I already tried a few solutions from this forum but nothing works :
I have what could be a beautiful specular reflection on my scene, but it's very noisy and terrible when animated...

tried Hot Pixel removal, caustic blur parameter, increase roughness... None of this worked.
This only thing that would work is it just get rid of the specular. But I want it in my scene, that's part of what makes it beautiful.

Should I give up?

I tried. It doesn't change anything.

Thanks for rebuilding the scene :))

1 - I can't afford this render time (and I have only one GPU so I guess it wouldn't be 5 minutes) because the shot will last something like 5 seconds.
2 - This will be animated with a camera, and I did the test : it flickers like hell when the camera moves. Your render would be fine for me if I was doing a print image, but I can see how it would react if animated and the problem would be the same especially with the far specular highlights. because they get calculated differently for each image, so it bounces a lot.

I feel stuck. It's for a client job and I bought octane especially. Little did I know that I could do a simple backlit sunset scene without having an issue with my speculars

It's not bad at 4000 maxsamples after 1min. Try to a bit tweak with sundir/specular amounts. This is not a direct plugin issue but i'm trying to help anyway.

I've also bought octane and suffering sun killing fireflies, is there also an exclude option for default environment of octane in Houdini?
Thanks

I think I've found the answer,
ray epsilon parameter got smaller and I have less problems now.

edit: not solved, lots of them remaining
