Have had 2 nasty system crashes over the last 2 days that maybe video card / GPU related.

The worrying side effect has been that both the scene file and object file I was working on in Lightwave were both corrupted after a reboot (the scene file was empty, but the same byte size).

The crash was not during saving, but rather while Octane was rendering in Lightwave.

This happened with the latest and previous production build.

Anyone else report this?

Well, this sounds to me like files corrupted due to the system crash (buffers to dumped to the HD or something like that), nothing related to LightWave or Octane themselves.

This system crashes are usually related to hardware or drivers issues ... if you have two or more GPUs you should try to disable one of them until the system becomes stable, to know if a GPU has a hardware issue.

Unfortunately, there is nothing from the software side that could be done to avoid a file corrupted due to a hard system crash. As usually, try to have updated backup files is the best solution.

Thanks,

Godstrike, have you opened your corrupted scene in a text editor, like Notepad++? As I have suggested in a couple other threads, lws files are simple text files, readable by humans, and you may be able to copy/paste some of your scene stuff and save hours of rebuilding. I have done this a couple times now. It helps a tiny bit if you have some programming experience (which I do), but is not likely required to make this happen.
