So I'm going to invest in Octane! Time and patience have turned away from the coming student subscription licenses ¨¨.

But after some fiddling ariund with the C4D plugin I have come to doubt if i should by a Standalone or Combo License ? The price without the plugin is after a fair bit lower

Are there anyone who are Standalone ONLY or should i just crack my savings and buy the whole lot ?

Hi KristofferMoth,
please, try with the demos, here is the latest c4dOctane demo:

You should be able to evaluate the workflow. Take in mind that with combo license you have access to both the possibilities, since you can export the entire scene to Standalone in any time ;)

So it isn't possible to export animated sequences to the standalone without the plugin ? :)

Hi KristofferMoth,
for animation, the plugin is the best because you have more freedom for materials animation and so on. There is an old exporter, but you have to export the animation frame by frame, loading on GPU all the scene each frame, while plugin has option to reload only what is changing frame by frame.
