Hi,

Could someone tell is there significant difference on memory impact between Phantom Scatter vs Lightwave (11.6.3)?

I am creating a rather large scene and I am still with one 780ti. I have Phantom Scatter license, but with this scene, I would rather use LWs own weight mapped instancing.. But if Phantom does better job, I'll use that.

I'm not familiar with Phantom but I can say I've never ran into a problem with instancing in native LW. We use hundreds and thousands of trees, plants, cars etc...in our Arch exterior scenes. All I can say is give it a quick test on your own since you have access to both. Do a quick point spray of several thousand (or however many you think you'll have in the end) and give it a go. Hope that helps.

I suppose I can crank the results from both with ease. :)

This thought came, since last time in a bigger scene I used Advanced Placement plugin, and I remembered incorrectly I had used LW native instancing. AP plugins physics engine generates quite heavy memory load in bigger scenes. It is awesome tool, but needs to be handled with care (and in bigger scenes AP instances needs to be converted to LW native instances.. which I didn't know last time).

All good.

Phantom Scattering is for Kids. The LW Instancer System kill that kiddi shit in Seconds (and the lw instancer system have much much more options) ...but yes you need RAM...much RAM! :)
