It would be nice to know what the goal for the next Octane beta version is going to be. What are you guys currently working on?

Is custom-MLT coming next?

Or is instancing coming next?

Or is something completely different coming next?

Hey,

We are currently working on different things, one thing I can disclose (but cannot promise an exact release date for), is instancing support.

Besides instancing, we are working on the new 2.5 render kernel, and we will be having a new developer join us soon :)
That means that the next big feature is 'training the new developer' :)
That might not sound very exciting as a new feature, but it will definitely pay off feature-wise in a few weeks, as we will be a stronger team.
Expect the official announcement in a few weeks, once we have flown in and accommodated our new team member :)

I think Octane could benefit a lot from improved UI. And, huge benefit, you could hire someone to do UI fulltime and won't have to train them for weeks or months on GPU's and raytracing! Just let them have at the UI.

I guess the UI issues I'm thinking of are the viewport, window management, auto saving / backup, more intuitive material controls. Why not, they could even work on embedding into 3d modeling software if they got bored.

btw..it would be really interesting to see implementation of instancing in octane..it would definitely be a challange- given the GPU memory limitations and complexities..
somehow- i really liked the instancing brush of kerkythea- very ingenuine (bad they went commercial with thea- and left kerky behind..well they got to earn some money which isnt so bad either)...instancing is what i really missed in octane..
cheers and thumbs up- Radiance
its worth the wait.. :D
