Hey Guys,

is there any way to implement a Reflection Catching Material, similar to the shadowcatcher? Maybe with the option to exclude direct environment Reflection.
I really need it every day but always need workarounds for this.

Cheers, Max

You're supposed to use the render layer reflexion pass for that.
(basicaly the Octane render layer pass system is an evolved shadow catcher)

You don't use the good pass (don't use "reflection direct" or "reflection indirect" pass),

use the "layer reflection pass" in the "render layer passes" group, it only catch reflections coming from the object in the actif layer id.

This pass IS a reflection catcher ! ;)

As an Examle,

here i attached a PNG from Autodesk VRED. Environment, Groundplane with shadows and Reflection. No direct environment Reflections. Premultiplied alpha. You just Drop it on any Background.
