This update contains all the changes in the Octane 3.0 release.
The 2.x and 3.0 plugins cannot be simultaneously installed with the same copy of SketchUp. Installing the 3.0 plugin should replace the 2.x plugin if you already have it, although we recommend uninstalling any existing plugins first. If you install the 3.0 plugin and want to go back to 2.x, you will need to fully uninstall the plugin before reinstalling 2.x.
Changes in the Octane 3 SketchUp plugin are mostly internal to the Octane rendering code; the SketchUp side of the application works pretty much the same as it did in the 2.x plugin. Changes to better integrate the new Octane features with the SketchUp user interface will be added in future releases, but this initial release is essentially the new Octane 3 rendering code integrated into the existing SketchUp plugin.
Major Changes
* Like the Octane 3 standalone version, the SketchUp plugin uses the new single sign-on system. You still need to have purchased a license for the SketchUp plugin, but it will now be checked automatically when you log in using your Otoy account credentials; you no longer need to keep track of user IDs and passwords for individual licenses.
* Because most rendered images are now stored in your computer's main RAM instead of your video card's RAM (see the section on host film buffers in the Octane 3 feature list), all Octane 3 applications, including the SketchUp plugin, will frequently use a good deal more memory than their Octane 2 equivalents, especially for high resolution renders. You should keep this in mind when upgrading.
SketchUp Version
- The plugin requires SketchUp 2015 or 2016 for Windows x64.
- SketchUp 2016 is recommended.
- If you are using SketchUp 2015, remember to select this when installing the plugin.
- If you have multiple versions of SketchUp, plugins are installed separately for each version.
- The plugin is not compatible with any x86 (32-bit) version of SketchUp.
System Requirements
- 64-bit Intel or AMD CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 for x64.
- Windows 10 compatibility is still provisional; Windows 8 or 8.1 is recommended.
- One or more recent model Nvidia GPU cards.
- Nvidia drivers 353.x or later.

Hello all.
Just a few things i think we need to say.
I was using the old v2 plugin, and still am.
I have been testing the StandAlone V3 version, looks amazing in many many ways, so i was expecting the SU v3 update.
When Oct4v3 version was out i thought, ok let test it to help a bit...(but not use to work, because i prefer a old but stable realise)
In Oct4SU V2 there are many thing that don't work....one that is really important is..."highlight compression" in IMAGER TAB....not to talk about beauty passes and all of that...
Opened Oct4SU v3....very stable....but as Cap, said...its almost the same as Oct4SU v2, with the changes only "Octane 3 rendering code".
But now the Oct4SU v3 doesn't open....it ask for a V3 licence ...
Some of us tested and tested and tested....this plugin....hours and hours to help develop the plugin....i bought the Blender plugin just to be safe, and use it as many times as i need just to save me from the problems of SU plugin.
SO now its time to make a decision....buy upgrade of Octane StandAlone V3, and upgrade SU plugin....or the Blender plugin?
The Blender plugin is much more stable and advanced....but i'm not a beta tester to thet plugin....i'm a SU beta tester.
Octane failed so many times with us in this SU plugin that i just dont know if its true or not....the V3 version of Octane has many many features that i dont belive will be inside SU.
Will the V2 features be available in a near future?...when i say near....i say 1 or 2 mounths....not next year or so.
I really need a honest answer
Will OCT4SU V3 plugin have the features that were promised in OCT4SU V2, because if not...what the point on paying for an update??
i belive Cap. and Haze are working as best as they can....i´m just afraid that Otoy makes the same as they did with Fuzzy.....
Were were stolen....
this time...i have t make a decision....Pay for the update or not??
one more thing...its not for the amount of money...because the update its not that expensive....(thank you for that)....its just unfair if Otoy stops the development again...even after we pay.
I belive i'm not the only on this position....
cheers

Hi resmas. I think that 70 EUR is not bad for the standalone and SU plugin.
BTW I only upgraded to the standalone and still using v2 for SU plugin - I just need it as an exporter to the standalone. I'll get v3 SU if I am given the nodal approach

hi smicha...yes i know 70 is not bad....its a great deal in my opinion.smicha wrote:Hi resmas. I think that 70 EUR is not bad for the standalone and SU plugin.

I just want to know, or at least ask if this time is for real....the development of the plugin.
dont have as much spare time as i would like....need to work really hard to pay the bills here....big familly and i cannot let them down.
The time to help with the plugin is time i will not be working...or making money....so if the development stops again.....its time we lost of our lives....that time i need to work.
If on top of that i pay for the upgrade to see it stop....i loose time and money. and get more Frustration

The point here is....do i use the combo discount upgrade on SU plugin or in Blender plugin?
i dont agree....Octane for SU....is by far the best render plugin in Sketchup.pasmangiu wrote:i think it's better to forget about the skp plugin , in my opinion it wold be better if otoy wold do the same , and stop the dev. , and just give all our money back
And if Otoy give the devs the time they need to set thing right....they will sell a big amount of licences.
At this stage....even with many many features missing the plugin allows to do crazy stuff.
Its a Raw Masterpiece .... that combines the amazing simplicity of SU with the best render engine in the world.
If i could (but i can't) i would pay Cap., Haze and Fuzzy....for 1 month add they easily put all this running like a charm....

Cheers to all

Plugins
Due to the recent and very late changes regarding the authentication and license management as well as the introduction of the film settings pin in the render target node, plugin developers still have to catch up and implement those changes, which means that the roll out of 3.00 versions of some plugins may take some time. I can assure you that the plugin developers are doing their best to get that done as soon as possible.
Also some of the new v3 features may not have been implemented yet in the plugins, because they take a lot of time or can't be implemented because there exists no infrastructure in the host application to generate any meaningful input data for a specific feature.

Hello there mate, but as you can see i am asking for the V2 feuters and not the V3.....lol...
so... the V3 features are still in the dreamland.
That's why i ask....upgrade to V3...i would like so...but at least a trust move from otoy with the V2 stuff.

cheers

They forgot to put Highlight Compression (in Imager), and Render Passes...
For example, Daz Studio and Houdini plugs have Render Pass as part of the plugin as it is not in underlying application. In 3DS Max, the application itself has Passes so the control is handled in application with output to the renderer being used.
And the plugins all have Highlight Compression in Imager, thinking that looks like a smaller one to add. I go to standalone so I never noticed myself, but yeah SU should have it.
(Resmas, there are other missing ones?)
In a nutshell:
1) Highlight Compression
2) Render Passes
Plugin no have, Make Fix!
Thanks!
