I recall Rob Steady and Azen discussing this and that today is when it would be released.
Will you produce one within the next month? I have some purchase decisions that would be influenced by it.
I bit the bullet on my personal license and upgraded in good faith but before I spend time deciding the team software strategy for the next few years I need to know that Otoy has a transparent development plan for the Max plugin, thanks.

Hi,

I have a similar question. Today my team has 10 octane 2.x licences, working only with the max plugin. I need to know when will Otoy release the 3dsmax 3.x version and if we will be able to work with older scene without spending time to convert material and rebuild all the links (like in some version i have tested).

Thank you !

Hi guys, it has been a couple of days and no response.
I understand the Max Plugin will be delayed, appreciate that, my query was genuine and not meant to troll.
Please though can you confirm roughly when a roadmap or development plan maybe released, for example will it be with with the plugin release or before....after even?
It is really important for us to know what your are thinking in terms of the future of this plugin, where your priorities lie or ideas you have, I have to make some decisions in the next month and it would be a great help.

Thanks.

Hi Tharaven,

Sorry I am confused, what is available under releases, the roadmap or the plugin.
The plugin under releases is an Alpha Test not final stable (purchased) production version.
I understand now that Otoy intend to release a roadmap with the official Max 3.0 plugin release not the release of official Standalone 3.0, that is how it came across but I have no idea until they answer.

Cheers

I'm afraid that things are exactly how they seem to be - they have no roadmap and they have not enough resources to build a proper one.
Features that haven't been implemented are too complicated to handle for one guy who jumps in from time to time in order to compile the plugin against new Octane dll.
Things will stay like they are until they'll find a programmer(s) dedicated to Max only.

Well it does not say Alpha or Beta next to it so im guessing its the final version since every release that came before it was labeled beta

Purely speculating, but in releases it says (test) and is available to users who have not paid for the upgrade, also it is not in the official download section yet.
I hope when it is an official release that we have a lot more information on the current status quo and the future of the plugin, fingers crossed! I am giving the benefit of the doubt for one last time!

with all due respect, the whole 3.0 release is not at all what i had hoped for.
really soured my impressions of octane which is a damn shame since the engine is so fantastic.
