I am totally new to Octane and can't really find tutorials for beginners. Since there is no good usable student version of the c4d plugin I have to use the standalone version. I dont know what I am doing wrong, but why cant I see a thing?

Same problem for me. What GPU are you using?

Guys, to start the render, you have to select the gray node, the "Render target" node ... ;)

Actually I can't see it mentioned in the documentation, and this is an unconventional practice,
certainly you're supposed to dig in the UI a little, to discover this, the first time...

Apart from that I also need compute model 2.1 or below.. for v1.2 ;(

Yep this version may be 3 or 4 years old I think, time to retire.
But soon you 'll have a Full feature V3 standalone limited to 2 GPU for $9.99 / month ;)

$9.99/month is a bit expensive for poor college students ;(
Maybe they could release 1.5 version?

This is not for students only but everybody who don't use more than 2 GPU, and the month you don't need it, you don't buy it.
I think this is a very clever move from Otoy.

But if I buy it.. i will need to use it the whole month.. or it would be wasted

Hi guys, I guess the manual focused a lot on the nitty gritty that this fundamental step sort of took the backseat.
there's a good point, we'll have it added asap.

Could you explain to me what is Octane Engine tech? So now I have to pay $9.99 + $9.99 (for plugin) a month? So in total $20??
