Hello all,

I am looking for a tool to get trees somewhat reallistically moving in the wind and would like to know your first hand experience or recommendations especially for C4D. Are there any workflow drawbacks, like missing selections tags or something, because I suppose I need to redo all the materials.

Some research led me to these conclusions, have I overlooked something?

Xfrog ( http://xfrog.com/product/XA-06.html )
+ cheaper (than cheapest speedtree software)
+ integrated into C4D
+ animated growth and wind already included
+ extensive library of free plants available

Speedtree ( https://store.speedtree.com/product/spe ... architect/ )
http://www.speedtree.com/3d-animation-s ... arison.php
+ hand drawing branches
- animated models have to be brought into C4D as FBX (heavy files ?)
- animated growth and wind only in most expensive bundle

Thanks
Ralf

Thanks a lot @Chris :)

Forester seems like the perfect solution, although I wonder how well it is going to hold up in a forest scene with 50 - 200 trees + other vegetation.

Forester http://www.3dquakers.com/forester-for-c ... re-detail/
++ extensive video documentation
(which I find almost as important as the tools features itself, because whats the best tool worth if you do not know how to use it )
++ very deep integration to C4D (sliders for prety much everything )
+ loop able wind
+ scattering tool
+ "randomized" leaf materials
+ animate able leaf growth (with random offset)
+ animate able growth (with random offset of branches)

I encourage you to give it a shot. Forester is excellent, intuitive, endlessly customizable & delivers great results. Used it recently on a project & recommend it highly.

Plus, Charbel the developer, like Ahmet, gives personal support.

I've had no problems with the software. It's very stable.

Seems to be very interesting! :)
Is it me or the galeries on 3dquakers.com are broken? I've tested on 3 browsers but no visible pictures... The links to pictures are there but no thumbnails appears in the list.

Have seen the same, hasn't been like that for too long though. Also try 3DQuakers on Facebook where they post regularly & share user content: https://www.facebook.com/3dquakers/?fref=ts

Low-res version of a scene I made w/Forester (circular because we run a fulldome/planetarium theater and this is our native format, 360 degrees by 180). Used as the set for a scene in a play we ran the last few weeks: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ul1gv4s1bi083 ... y.png?dl=0. This was rendered at 16K by 8K before being warped for the dome in the final version.

I've been using 3D Quakers Forester since beta, absolutely the best solution for animated trees. Speedtree Cinema has better looking trees and better wind animation (by far), but it's expensive and the exported files are about 400 MB/second for a single tree.

Forester also comes with great scattering tools

Is it true that Forester trees do not come with texture maps?
