I have a feeling this may be system related, but I sent MAXON an error report for a scene which has repeatedly crashed Octane for me and they said it was entirely the plugin which was causing the crash.

I'm running standalone 2.25 and using C4D plugin version 2.25 R3.

nVidia driver 358.50 with a Titan Z card and win 7 x64 professional (I'm updating the nvidia driver now to see if it rectifies the problem).

This was MAXON's response regarding the dragons scene:

" Hello,

You forwarded a bugreport to us at 2016/03/20.

The crash has been caused by Octanes renderplugin.

To avoid further crashes remove the plugin from your installation of Cinema 4D
or try to install the latest version of this plugin.

You should inform and describe this problem to the developer of the plugin to assure he can
reconstruct the issue and fix the problem.

Kind regards,

I see you are using C4D shaders in Octane materials. Propably layer type. And you might have multi-core activated for "Render C4D Shader" functions. Cpu cores=1 mean single thread, n>1 mean multi.

So please don't do this for complex C4D shaders!!! As you can read in settings i don't advice that and I wrote that as an warning.
So that's a known problem with multi-processing of complex C4D shaders rather than bug.

Thank you aoktar. I ended up doing a windows restore and the problem was resolved. Now I know not to mess with that setting, I don't even remember turning it on.

I did have one other issue with geometry and motion blur not working as I expected. I followed a tutorial by http://inlifethrill.com/training/octane ... d-duality/ to create this project:

I am getting different render results in the live viewer, main view, and picture viewer. Here's a screenshot: Image

The image in the display panel in the center is rendering correctly, but not in the live view or the picture viewer. I've also had it render correctly in only the live viewer, but I can not get the project to render properly in the picture viewer.

Thanks so much for your help, you guys have done a great job with this plugin.

Hi mrwig,
about motion blur, you should add an Octane Object Tag to the Fracture sphere in Transform/Vertex mode, and to the Trigger sphere in Transform only mode ;)

Thanks bepeg4d,

I put object tags on each sphere with the modes you recommended. I rendered in UV just to check the blur and now it's moved from the display port to the live view window, but I still can't get it to work in the picture viewer.

I've been bouncing back and forth with this for a while, not sure what I'm doing wrong.
