Have the 2.25 (Stable) version of the plugin. The render layers aren't always working. It will load all the render layers. Then I have to unable then re enable for them to work... I can PM you the specific scene if you like. So frustrating. Just lost an overnight animation...

Also , this will even happen if you have the render viewport open, then click the animation button. It switches back to showing all the render layers, you then need to disable then re enable the check box for it to work properly (Mid first frame). That is where I went wrong, had it looking how I wanted it, already did the disable re enable work around, clicked render animation. Went home. Came in, all layers rendered.. :(

Here is a simpler scene I setup.

Square on the left is set to render layer 2 and the one on the right is render layer 1. When you open the viewport, the render layers are already enabled. But don't work. So this is when you have to disable and re enable it. Then it works. But then if you close the viewport and reopen it, you have to do that again or it wont work.

Soooo even if you have it working right with the workaround in the viewport and click render animation... it REOPENS the viewport and then the render layers don't work again. So you have to do the workaround again, mid animation render.

Sorry I don't know of any other way to explain it then that.

Thanks!

Render layer is working correctly for me when I open the Viewport on that scene. For example, I open the Viewport and the cube on the left is visible but the cube on the right is not. Which version of Modo are you using? Which release of the plugin are you using? Try unticking "Default Live Geometry Update" in the Preferences, then manually turn on Live Geometry Update for the two mesh items.

Hmm.. yeah not for me still. I tried the updating geo fix and still doesn't work.

I am using 2.25 of the plugin and for Modo I am using Modo 902 sp2.

I upgrade to the V3 version of the plugin. Works fine now. Was just a little hesitant on upgrading, and thought it would be more safe to stay with the stable version. Oh well works fine now.

I just went back to re-test this on the latest 2.25 version of the plugin, and you are right. I have now fixed this and updated the Windows installers in the STABLE thread.
