The topic of producing a Pepper's ghost style of holographic projection came up at work today.
Basically, a normal monitor faces up or down and displays four images at 90deg of an object (front, side L, back, side R). An acrylic pyramid is placed on top of or under the display with each side catching the reflection of the aligned image. At the center, inside the pyramid, the holographic object appears.
Google Pepper's ghost or Holus hologram projection system.
I would be pretty cool if Octane could have a camera setup much like it does for VR stereo cube mapping where it would automatically produce the four views in one image.
Holographic projection- 4 view Pepper's ghost camera preset?

Use the baking camera with the revert baking flag, and you have the tools to use any camera lens you can define through a mesh + normal map.olineallthetime wrote:The topic of producing a Pepper's ghost style of holographic projection came up at work today.
