Hi. I am trying to put together a presentation for my boss about Octane. I currently have one 980ti gpu. I'm hoping to purchase more but I have to show my boss how much we gain for each card we purchase. Can someone help me out here? Does it eddentially half your render time each card you have if they are identical? How does that work with 3 or 4 cards?
So if a render takes 1 minute a frame with one 980ti. Will it take 30 seconds with 2? how about 3?

hi there,
GPUs scale linearlly.. what means 2 GPus render things in 1/2 of time, 3 in 1/3, 4 in 1/4, etc.. compared to single card =) keep in mind cooling matters.. 4GPUs under water will give You performance of 5 on air =)

Thanks for the reply. A couple more questions then based on your response. So I currently have two custom built computers. Built in the Corsair 900d towers...so plenty of space. I currently have one 980ti in each tower. I don't have water cooling in the towers nor do I have the experience to build a custom water cooling loop. Is there a decent all in one solution? Would watercooling be necessary in a case this large with only two gpus? I could skip a space in between each gpu. I currently have 7 high performance fans and then two noctua fans on the NDh15 cpu cooler. Helps move air pretty well. What do you think?
no watercooling is not nesecarry by any means.. if You have a lot of space & good airflow =) just keep in mind & don't worry if You see card rtemperatures 80-85C - that's normal.mattbowden3c wrote:Thanks for the reply. What wottercooling gives is mcuh lower temperatures under full load.. instead of soemthign aroun 80C You would get like 40-50C, pluss if You would have enough rad space You can use very low spinnin' fans what leads to better acustoc performance. Water takes absorbs & thus transfers the heat from die to rad (& out of the case) much faster. A side effect You can also shrink GPUs to single slot with some mods.. what allows You to have a lof of power in small space.
but it's not nesecary at all =) avoid if You can..'cos once You're onto it..You would not want to look back anymore =p

Are there any good out of the box water cooling systems?
