I really am sick of all the unnecessary extra work this plugin causes me. I have a scene where I replaced the grass with gravel. A very simple and straight forward change you might think. I changed the material in DAZ Studio and then auto updated the material in Octane. When I began animating the scene all was well and the gravel material was rendered. Then about half way through the animation the grass appeared. Luckily I caught this before hours of rendering had passed. So I stopped the animation and auto updated back to the gravel but when I tried to render the animation the grass kept appearing. Even after I deleted the grass material in the Octane textures tab the plugin just reloaded it and ignored that I had repeatedly auto updated to the new gravel material. I checked the gravel material in the textures tab but even though it is visible it's not possible to edit it for some reason. So there must be something wrong with the way Octane has loaded this material. I saved the project each time I updated the materials but this made no difference. Finally I decided to unlink the Octane material from the object and then auto updated it. This worked while the project was still open but after closing and then reopening the project, Octane loads the grass again.

The reason I had to re-open the project and re-render frames is because the plugin rendered some of the frame textures in a very strange way. Parts of the texture detail appear to be missing. So when I render the animation in Vegas Pro this causes glitches in some of the frames. It seems like a no win situation - either OcDS v2 won't save the correct materials or it renders them incorrectly! What a ridiculous palaver! I literally can't finish this project because the plugin doesn't work. Considering this is v2 of the plugin not some 0.xx version where basic things like retaining and rendering the correct textures might not have been solved yet.

Honestly, I can't wait to have a developer who will actively address problems like this and systematically identify and squash these bugs. At times like this all the resentment about the lack of development and communication really causes me to become infuriated. I've spent over three hours trying to find a solution to a problem that doesn't have one that shouldn't happen in the first place. It's just as well that on the internet no one can hear you scream!
