I'm getting my new PC tomorrow, never used one before, I've been using a Mac for 20+ years for retouching and up until now CGI.
But the ol MacPro isn't cutting it any longer so it's a PC.
Looking forward to the new experience (Windows 10) and the trials, troubles, and triumphs that it will bring.
Got an i7 5960x and two 980 Ti's and an old 670 put in. A simple set up and for a smashing price compared to a MacPro.

So jumping in the deep end.
Wish me luck :)

I'm a PC convert myself after doing 3d arts on Macs over 20 years. Not quite there yet with the usability of pc OS but the performance is making me very happy, and Octane is a freaking miracle of a product. Been thinking about getting Windows 10 soon but I have to wait a little because our storage solution (SAN) has not release a driver yet for Win 10.

Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement troops.
Hit a bit of a road block, my 30" Apple is DVI-D and the GTX's are DVI-I. lol.
Need a bridge, gonna take a week for delivery...
Though got my eye on a LG 31MU97.

Seeing as all the new 4-5K Apple iMacs are LG screens can't go wrong really.

As soon as I bench this puppy and do a real job, i''l be sure to report.

I did look at that too, and it looked interesting. I've been using an Apple 30" for a decade and I have also bought a 55" Samsung 7000.
Just can't get into a curved screen, don't know why, it just doesn't click with me.
Maybe it's an old man thing.

Getting on okay with Octane for Modo.
The nodal system is a bit of a curve ball as I've been spoilt with the shader tree.

I do have an issue with using the nodes from the (Octane Live) database, as they come into the schematic view all pilled up on top of each other, making it a chore to separate to view them as a whole.

Been viewing MTimTams channel and the like. They mostly use other apps but you get the idea of how to attache the nodes to each other.

Practice, practice, practice.
