Hi, I'm rendering an animation, and after anywhere from 3 to 15 frames, it just stops and says "Cannot export OBJ/MTL." Is there a log file somewhere?
I probably can't upload my scene because it involves a RealFlow mesh being imported via the RF C4D plugin.
Also abstrax, would it be possible to make it try again when this happens? Thanks!
"Cannot export OBJ/MTL" - not sure why

Yes there is some error logging in the C4D console. What does it say?colorlabs wrote:Hi, I'm rendering an animation, and after anywhere from 3 to 15 frames, it just stops and says "Cannot export OBJ/MTL." Is there a log file somewhere?

Got it again! Here are the last few lines (copy&paste won't work so I'll type it
):

Any insight?"C:\Users\keith\...\octane.exe" -e ...
OEConverter::launchOctane(): Could not rename pre-exported OBJ/MTL files.

Yup: While one frame renders, the exporter starts exporting the next frame into a temporary file. When the rendering of the current frame has finished. The current OBJ/MTL files get deleted and the pre-exported (/temporary) files get renamed to the actual filename. Somehow this process doesn't seem to work reliable. -> I will make it try more often over a period of maybe 10 seconds or so.colorlabs wrote:Got it again! Thanks for the feedback. Cheers,

Well, I bet it's because loading the RealFlow mesh takes so long, and I'm only rendering at 8 s/px so renders go really quick. So the render is finishing before the export I bet.

Possible. I thought the plugin caters for that situation, but I will have a look at it later. If you want, you can maybe render 16 spp or so and see if the problem then goes away, which would tell us that you are right.colorlabs wrote:Well, I bet it's because loading the RealFlow mesh takes so long, and I'm only rendering at 8 s/px so renders go really quick.
