I just purchased Octane after having used the demo version. What I've noticed is, in comparison to the demo version, the latest licensed version lags substantially. For example, if I adjust the roughness on a specular material, I get the blue Windows busy circle for about 15 seconds and the Max material editor dialog says "(Not Responding)".
This is very disappointing as I didn't have this issue with the demo version. The responsiveness of the Octane demo compared to iRay(which is free) was the primary reason I purchased Octane.
Material adjustments lag in licensed version but not demo

I used the latest versions of each currently available. I believe the demo version is 2.17 and the licensed version is 2.23.2.
The scenes and settings are identical. The scene was created with the demo version, and I loaded it with the license version as-is.

There is no such plugin version "2.23.2". Could you please name the full version number? I need it to check this.
There should be no difference of that kind between demo and full version. If it is the bug - it will be fixed.

Version 2.32.2 - 1.8.
That's the link at the top of the Download page which I arrived at via my OctaneLive Accounts page. Though I see now that particular version is labeled "obsolete." Seems like the download page hasn't been updated?
I'll try the topmost stable version link and see how that works.

So the latest stable version listed on the download page: v2.04 is also terribly laggy. Version 2.32.2 - 2.0 [TEST] also lags.
I re-installed the demo version: 2.17 and it's liquid smooth. It's not just materials editing, but also viewport manipulation.

Latest video drivers installed which report CUDA 7.5.9. Is there a newer version to be had? It is odd that no one else has reported this issue. Perhaps it's something to do with the GTX 980 Ti, being it's relatively new?
So far I can't reproduce it on my side, all works smoothly in full version. Could you please try to disable the network rendering in Octane settings and check if the issue remains?..
As this big lag together with Windows waiting cursor - looks like the system waits for some network access...

Hi, do you have vrayspawner running as a service in your machine? if so, it should be temporary turned off before installing new octane plugins or it will block existing files from being overwritten.paulforgy wrote:I just purchased Octane after having used the demo version.
