Not sure if this is Modo specific or what but I can't for the life of me layer up everything to match a beauty pass.
Is there any documentation like this for modo, but for Octane? http://modo.docs.thefoundry.co.uk/modo/ ... er+outputs
Thanks!
Still fiddling around with these. Do layer reflections only work on direct kernel? Seems like when they are on anything else they are super blown out or something.
EDIT: ^ Nevermind, I can't even get the layer reflections to work at all. Just not even close to the beauty pass.
I am trying to light a product on the reflective sweep and I only want the reflections of the object and not all the lights and stuff. Isn't that what Layer reflections is? Have each set to there own render layer...
Thanks

If you search by about a year there was a post detailing the formula for constructing the beauty pass from the other passes (from Stratified I think). There is also a section in the manual on it at http://render.otoy.com/universe.php#51Beauty%20Passes.

The tooltip shows "Contains light reflected by the objects in the active layer on the objects in all the other layers" - so do you have the right objects in the right layers to make this work? Also - you may need Kernel->Alpha Channel enabled for this pass (I'm not completely sure on that though). The lights would still reflect of th objects from the other layer - so I'm not sure that pass is 100% what you are after.I am trying to light a product on the reflective sweep and I only want the reflections of the object and not all the lights and stuff. Isn't that what Layer reflections is? Have each set to there own render layer...
