For me the power of VR is in the sense of presence. I took my 89 yo mother in law for a flying lap around the Suzuka circuit in my Rift DK2 and it blew her mind.
This was the inspiration for my entry. An homage to the fearsome 130R corner at Suzuka. I tried to capture a time slice of an accident and put the viewer at the the heart of it. This is what impresses me most about VR. The ability to immerse us in sights, sounds and experiences beyond our normal everyday lives, its amazing.
I had a lot of fun and a few sleepless nights putting this together. It's the first time I've used octane, now I'm a convert. It was a joy to use. Its all rendered on a single 4gb 770gtx (couldn't get ORC to render the file) All done in 3 weeks. I hope you enjoy.
