I haven't seen much urban street scenes in the competition and I was wondering if anyone here has a huge street scene to test Octane with, something like this (which was used some time ago in an ATI demo for their "Cinema 2.0" initiative, but was never publicly released :roll: ):

Stonemasons aproaches are nice, Im a little concerned about texture handling in his scenes here and there.
Looks like some of it has been rushed a bit too much.
However they look ok as long as you dont get too close.

Sorry about the misunderstanding, it is'nt about the fact that it wasn't modeled by the artist, it was more a recognition that Stonemason has a lot of Outdoor scene that could possibly be rendered with Octane. :D

All-be-it that the textures may have to be reduced to fit in the available ram space, may result in statements like the one above about being rushed.

If i recall a lot of his textures are 1024x1024 for SOA but most are 512x512 and may need to be reduced to fit so many of them in available space.

BTW that is a great render of SOA

yeah man the textures are big enough ( for somewhat distance camera position ), but the quality and seams and mapping arnt perfect. I noticed some horrible woodish blegh texture with no charistica what so ever on a side thingy on one of those buildings.
Its a large stack of photographs he walked around taking with his DSLR and slaped on mesh I presume.
( dont know the guy so I cant be sure )

Also got alot of tiling going on..

But I tinkered with one of his models and didnt find it suitable for anything but distant shots.

HOWEVER! his photographs put on mesh and modeled some details looks crazy good in octane from the distance!
closeups are no go.
