Animation with groups not working

Hi all, I have an animated group with many items parented to it, pulling out hair trying to get it working.

Here's what I've tried so far both checked and unchecked

Live geo update on all items including parent
load cage
reload mesh each frame
load all frames into octane
reload materials each frame
use modo render cache
alembic export
there are bend effectors in the group but ive tried removing them which made no difference.

If I reload octane at any frame, that frame will be correct. If i then try to scrub the timeline, the mesh will do weird things, usually become stuck.

Anyone have experience with this? Paul has been helping alot but we haven't been able to crack it yet.

Have you tried turning OFF Preferences->Octane->Use Modo Render Cache?

Is the above problem on Modo901 only, or Modo801 too?

i got the same issue, i solved it, using a mesh item as a group root
- Win 10 Pro 64bit
- 64gb Ram
- RTX 3090
- RTX 2080
- Nvidia driver version: 516.94
- Cinema 4d r25
- Plugin version Studio+ 2022.1(r7)

BREAKTHROUGH

I've narrowed it down to something to do with instances. If I have live update turned on with only regular meshes it will animate as expected. If I add instances to the group, the object that are instanced, plus the instances get left behind while the regular meshes animate. Anyone know how to solve this?

edit: Thanks Marcus, I've got them on a mesh as parent now, but still having this problem with instances. Does this happen for you?

Yes

It's happening in 801 and 901

I've created a simple group animation of primitives in a new scene and also in my spaceship scene, the same animation isn't working in my spaceship scene..but does work in a new scene. Not sure what's causing it.

BTW should I have live geo update turned on for any kind of animation?

Animations details what settings you should use - but I need to update it to answer your specific question....Ticking Live Update will result in OBJECT motion blur for that mesh if the "Load all frames into Octane" box is ticked. If it's unticked, it should still move in the animation but without object motion blur.

Thanks for the scene. It animates fine for me with:

- Modo901
- Load All Frames Into Octane - OFF
- Preferences->Octane->Use Render Cache - OFF

Not working for me with those 2 options off in 901....hrmpf. Maybe it's a script. Any ideas on what might affect that? I have eterea swisstools, pp toolkit, window maker, floor maker

I'm not sure what "not working" means - perhaps you could post the rendered output you are getting from that animation?

It's also helpful if having a problem to try to reproduce it with just simple cubes - so that it makes it crystal clear what the issue is, and removes any other influences.
