Thanks Tom, here´s what I did so far:
- blocked in the scene
rtm_makingofs_blocking_scene.png
(interesting problem to solve is how to direct the eye of the viewer in 360 degree + updown, since no framing)
- there will be a lot of changes especially with the characters

- modeled the vehicles

- modeled the lounge

I also found out something interesting regarding the Vram-Usage.
It seems that the final image size eats quite a bit into the vram. In c4d with octane-plugin, an empty scene at this size already uses about 540mb of vram. My rule of thumb for available ram is: c4d-project-size *4 +540mb =octane-vram-usage. Just throwing that out there. Something I´ll have to keep an eye on, since I´m running 3gb cards.
Did some more modeling, currently struggling with the characters. Will post more soon.
Cheers!

Spent most of last week posing, dressing and re-hairing characters.
May have went into a little more detail than necessary here and there...
Actors, please take your positions!

Modeled some more assets (plants, rocks) and started putting it all together.

More modelling tomorrow, after that: texturing and lighting.

I just want to complete this little documentation. Here are some of the other steps I took:

modeled the plants, grass and rocks:

sculpted the Ghún-úr-hálul:

experimented a little bit with a wormhole-like effect, kind of similar to this one:

Found that it´s actually possible to create quite an interesting effect straight out of octane by using a matte material to "mask out" the background and putting a bend image behind a lense.

Finally, rendered some stills and played around a little:
