Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Version 2016 64-bit on Linux operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 459€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

CHANGES SINCE THE PREVIOUS VERSION
  • Maya 2016 support is implemented.
  • Fixed the Octane renderview resolution bug.

Installation:
- Just run the installer to see its command line keys.;)

thanks for the 2016 update.
I personally got issues loading the plugin here.

The first attempt of loading the plugin through the plugin manager throws this error message:

Code: Select all

// Error: line 1: Unable to dynamically load : /usr/autodesk/maya2016/modules/octaneForMaya/2016/plug-ins/OctanePlugin.so
dlopen: cannot load any more object with static TLS
Im not sure about if static TLS is needed for the library, but it seems to.

However the second attempt to load the plugin crashes maya completely back to desktop

I have a custom install:

Code: Select all

/usr/autodesk/maya2016/modules/octaneForMaya/2016
/usr/autodesk/maya2016/modules/octaneForMaya/2016/plug-ins
/usr/autodesk/maya2016/modules/octaneForMaya/2016/plug-ins/OctanePlugin.so
/usr/autodesk/maya2016/modules/octaneForMaya/2016/lib
/usr/autodesk/maya2016/modules/octaneForMaya/2016/lib/liboctane.so
/usr/autodesk/maya2016/modules/octaneForMaya/2016/lib/octane.dat

Code: Select all

+ LOCALE:en_US PLATFORM:linux MAYAVERSION:2016 OctaneForMaya 2.32.2 /usr/autodesk/maya2016/modules/octaneForMaya/2016
PATH+:=lib
Above folders/files are set to

Code: Select all

rwxr-xr-x
so the current user running maya is able to write into it

But I use a Geometry Type: Movable proxy, Scatter and Reshapable proxy IES light they are not equal with Global. :?

Is this a bug or not?

No, it's not.
You'll get the same difference in standalone after exporting the scene. If it so important for you - you can set the "Scale" in Octane global settings to "1.0".

Someone else got this issues on their workstation and can reproduce it?
I see matrix can load it fine, so this seems to be a system issue here?

Hi JimStar,

Lighting passes in Octane Render standalone menu Render Passes and be rendered.
In Maya Render Passes are not available Lighting passes and will not be rendered.

Under Render Passes are the Lighting passes not there in Maya?

The multi-EXR is not saved since Maya 2016.

The Octane Render standalone version has more render passes as Maya?

Menu Render Passes activate the motion vector I have no motion blur.

But I deactivate the motion blur is rendered?

sorry for my bad English.
