This has come up before, but now that I'm a paying customer I thought I'd take a moment and make this request (for v3...): Octane needs a true equidistant, circular fisheye camera with adjustable FOV.
To see how this should work, look directly at Vray's VrayCameraDome. This generates precisely the output we use for almost every single job we render - adding this to Octane is crucial for us to use Octane as a primary renderer. The same will be true for anyone working in fulldome content generation and many others.
We hope to see such a camera in v3, and are indeed desperate for GPU-based tools that can provide the output we need. Fingers crossed.

Definitely support this. It is a fundamental requirement for full dome creation, and it seems that Octane is already very close with its Panoramic options.
It would be great for us to see a true equidistant, circular fisheye camera with adjustable FOV in V3.

if You need dome only, why not to set FOV 180 & distortion to 1? (just an idea)
(& a bit curious) how does result differ from what You want to get? =)

Um, it's been in Octane for quite a while now... It is called Spherical Camera, and it is in the Panoramic Camera node. You have been waiting needlessly. This is what VR stuff is rendered with...

hi, no im not talking about the 360 rendering, im talking about a true fisheye lens/camera/solution... like having the ability to render a spherical 360 H FOV and over 180 V FOV now we are limited to a 180 vertical FOV and its not a true proportion even for 180...FrankPooleFloating wrote:Um, it's been in Octane for quite a while now... Oops. Sorry. I thought you must be talking about spherical.
