"In typical cases expect next-gen GPUs to be around two times faster than contemporary graphics chips."

I have to wonder if we'll be topping out GPU performance soon. CPU's aren't exactly getting faster. (Unless you spend a gob of cash for a specialized system.)

When the GTX680 was announced it would be 2x faster than the 580....
Neither Intel can build 20x faster processor after the previous version.

Since we're talking about GTX cards, what does faster relate to - what we use them for, what gamers use them for, or both, i.e., who has/is Nvidia been/- talking to? If Pascal is only 3x-5x faster than Maxwell at rendering, you won't hear me complaining, unless there's exorbitant price gouging; but if it's truly 10x faster at rendering, then it's all over but the shouting of cheers of joy. So, I'm holding onto my pennies this year in the hopes that Nvidia was talking to us.
Because I have 180+ GPU processers in 16 tweaked/multiOS systems - Character limit prevents detailed stats.
