Will OctaneRender for UE4 support native UE4 materials?

It has been announced that OctaneRender is coming coming to Unreal Engine 4. It looks like the plugin will feature both rendering and progressive texture baking within the Unreal editor. My main question is whether the renderer will support native Unreal materials. Will a normal UE4 scene render correctly in Octane for Unreal without having to rework all the materials. That would be a deal-breaker. I ask because in the teaser clip that was posted online, all of the materials in UE4 viewport were all black, and clearly not compatible between the 2 renderers. I hope this was just an issue with the early implementation and will be resolved before the plugin is released.

I'd also like to know.

We'll have to wait on OSL support in V3 beta to know how far we could go in this direction. In the interim getting ORBX ->UE4 100% solid is the focus of the first release, which will be built on top of the V3 alpha coming soon.

Is 'coming soon' possibly this year still or don't you know? Also, do we understand correctly that the UE4 plugin will be released at the same time v3 is released? There was nothing on UE4 in Abstrax recent update post.
Thanks,
Seeker

It's being done in parallel to Octane 3 core engine work. It will require a few features beyond the baking camera we have working right now in V3 (which is why Abstrax mentioned the UV issues we need to fix). We would like to release a preview build of the UE4 plug-in sometime between V3 alpha and beta (beta == OSL).Seekerfinder wrote:Thanks Goldorak,Goldorak wrote:We'll have to wait on OSL support in V3 beta to know how far we could go in this direction. Really glad you guys are working on the UE4 plugin. So, to summarise, you're going to release UE4 plugin AFTER the first Octane 3 (alpha)? I'd like to know if the UE4 plugin is likely to see the light of day before the end of the year?
Thanks,
Seeker

We don't know how much time is exactly needed to fix the uv selection issue. Maybe a few weeks. If so, then we should have it out by then. Best not to count on a date for any new projects using this until it is in your hands.

Hi Goldorak,
Any status update on the UE4 plugin development? Is it happening right now, or is it on the back-burner?
I really hope Fuzzybro is working on it...
Best,
Seeker
