Rhino Render Menu->Material Editor->Create New Material->Octane Material->Import (on the Octane Material sub-panel)->LiveDb.

That was a Rhino SR10 or 11 bug I reported to McNeel. Can you pls tell me the SR number and build number of your Rhino installation, and the release number of the Octane plugin you have installed.a bugg or? when i assign a live db material, tweek it it bit by changing the color for instance, when i want to edit it again, the rhino window that opens, the octane material field is blank- wht to do?
Thanks

Thanks for sending through your version info. I have definitely experienced this problem before, but I updated to the version of Rhino you re using but I could not reproduce this problem. Do you have the Material panel docks to athe tab panel, or is it in a floating window? Do you have a set of steps which causes this problem to occur every time?a bugg or? when i assign a live db material, tweek it it bit by changing the color for instance, when i want to edit it again, the rhino window that opens, the octane material field is blank- wht to do?

i select an object, property tab, material, material is asigned to the object, clic on the pencil (edit) , window opens> nothing is displayed BUT i understood: it is because i have selected a group of 6 objects, i've got in the title: editing + 6 time the name of the material, and a blanck botom- if i ungroup and select one object, it works. Same happens if i select 2 objects with the same material, blanck and 2 names.
Hope that helps for future develloppment, to have someone like me who access the materials by selecting the objects-just because sometime you just don't know the name of the material you have assigned to an object- i might be not the only one....

I understand - thanks for your explanation.
I think what is happening is that internally to Rhino, a Rhino material has one ID that is shared between objects. However for RDK (ie. non-Rhino) materials, Rhino splits them into separate materials for each object (eventhough they all use the same Octane material) - and each has a separate ID. So when select 6 objects and "Edit" a non-Rhino material it things you are editing 6 different materials. This appears to be a Rhino issue - and I will report it to McNeel. The workaround is easy - simply select one of the six items and edit it's material, and then material change will apply to all geometry using that material.
